The following steps will walk you through the process of setting up your phone to receive an authentication code via text for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
To start, click on the following link: https://aka.ms/MFASetup. It will take you to the “Additional security page” below. You will need to sign in if you haven’t already. (The green and yellow highlighted sections are what you will be completing)
Under “what’s your preferred option?” select from the drop down menu “Text code to my authentication phone” (Green highlighted portion in above photo):
Under “how would you like to respond?” select “Authentication phone” and enter the 10 digit phone number you wish to use for MFA:
Click “Save” at the bottom:
You will receive a text notification to the number you just provided that will contain the verification code that you will need to enter. Enter the code into the box, then click "Verify":
You are now set up for MFA text notifications. When you sign into your account outside of our network, you will be prompted to enter the passcode that will be sent to the phone number you provided. You will simply enter the code as you did in the last step above to complete the sign in process.
